OPENING ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Urban Drainage and Flood Control District

The Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, a regional government agency in the Denver area, is seeking a Professional Engineer to fill one of the two engineering positions on its 23-member Board of Directors. 

The individual must be a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado and must reside within the District.  The individual cannot be an employee of any city or county governmental entity within the District or an employee of a company that is currently doing or may potentially do business with the District. 

The Urban Drainage and Flood control District comprises the metropolitan area surrounding Denver.  It extends north to south from the City of Boulder to the Town of Parker and east to west from the Denver International Airport to the Town of Morrison. 

The Board of Directors consists of the following 23 members:

One Mayor appointed by the Governor from each of the counties of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder and Jefferson (4).

The Mayor or Deputy Mayor of the City and County of Denver (1).

The Mayor or Mayor Pro-Tem of the City and County of Broomfield (1).

Three Denver Council Members appointed by the Denver City Council (3).

The Mayor or Mayor Pro-Tem of a city within the District boundaries with a population over 100,000, which now includes, Arvada, Aurora, Boulder, Centennial, Lakewood, Thornton, and Westminster (7).

One County Commissioner appointed by the respective County Commissioners of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Douglas, and Jefferson counties (5)

Two Professional Engineers appointed by the Board of Directors (2)

The Board of Directors meets approximately ten times per year on the third Thursday of each month, except for the annual meeting on February 1.  The Board does not meet in January and July.  One or two committees occasionally meet in addition to the regular monthly Board meeting.  Board members receive $75.00 per attended meeting up to a maximum of $1,200 per year.
